AirAsia X will cut Kuala Lumpur–Almaty flights from five to four a week between 8 November and 14 December 2026. This was reported by AeroRoutes. The flights operate on an Airbus A330-300.
The flights currently operate five times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. According to AeroRoutes, during the cut the operating days will be: 8–18 November, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday; 19–29 November, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday; 30 November–14 December, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday.
Flight times: D7600 Kuala Lumpur 12:40 to Almaty 17:40, and D7601 Almaty 19:00 to Kuala Lumpur 06:05 the next day.
In September, according to DKnews, AirAsia X announced an increase to five flights a week and almost 27,000 seats for the coming quarter. The cut comes less than a month after that announcement.
Our assessment: a small reduction in capacity on the only direct route between Kazakhstan and Malaysia matters to tour operators and Almaty airport. This is flycentralasia's conclusion, not a statement by AirAsia X.
