The second phase of Andijan International Airport's modernization covers a new two-story terminal spanning 19,685 square meters, upgraded infrastructure and smart services including high-speed Wi-Fi. The project's total budget is 1.1 trillion soums (about $93mn). The first phase is already complete: the runway was extended to 3.3 kilometers and supporting infrastructure upgraded. Once phase two is finished, hourly capacity will rise from 200 to 1,000 passengers, with annual capacity reaching 3.5 million. Annual flight operations are set to grow from 808 to 2,500. The airport opened in 1978 and gained international status in 2013; seven airlines currently operate scheduled domestic and international routes from Andijan.
