Uzbekistan's Arnasoy airport receives first international flight

The Arnasoy airfield in Uzbekistan's Jizzakh region has received its first international flight: a Boeing 737-800 arriving on a direct service from Dubai, the Jizzakh region administration reported.

The airfield sits on the shore of Lake Aydarkul. Its 1.7 km runway, 30 m wide, was built by the national Road Committee, which deployed 100 units of specialized machinery and 120 workers for the project; the site also includes an aircraft apron and a terminal.

The first aircraft to land there was a CASA C295W military transport, followed in September 2025 by a civil test flight operated with an L-410UVP-E20. The arrival of the Dubai service marks the airfield's first international connection.

According to local officials, the airfield is designed as the transport hub for the "Aydar-Arnasoy" tourism complex now under development — infrastructure meant to open the region to visitors and make travel to Lake Aydarkul as convenient as possible, as part of a broader push to build out ecotourism in this part of Jizzakh region.
