Kazakhstan and Oman sign air service agreement

On 6 October 2026 in Astana, during the state visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said of Oman, the governments of Kazakhstan and Oman signed an air service agreement. The ceremony took place in the presence of the heads of state. The agreement was signed by Kazakhstan's Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev and Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

It is one of eight documents signed during the visit. The others include an investment protection agreement, a joint investment fund agreement and a financial cooperation memorandum. In their joint statement, the leaders agreed to establish direct air service as soon as possible.

What changes: the two countries gain a legal basis for air services. The head of Kazakhstan's Civil Aviation Committee, Saltanat Tompiyeva, said the agreement creates additional opportunities for air connectivity and will support trade, investment, tourism and cultural ties.

Limit: the terms of the agreement, including frequencies and designated carriers, have not been published. No routes, airlines or launch dates have been announced. The agreement itself is not a schedule: regular flights will appear when carriers announce them.
