Aktobe region Akim Askhat Shakharov held a working meeting with representatives of Czech company Omnipol Defence a.s. to discuss plans to acquire L-410 turboprop aircraft for the region's small-aviation development. Omnipol Defence was represented by its chairman, Artem Movsesyan.
Omnipol expressed readiness to help train flight and technical crews and to supply ground equipment. The meeting also touched on Omnipol Airports, the group's division supplying lighting, air traffic control and navigation equipment for small and medium-sized airports.
The L-410 is a turboprop aircraft seating up to 19 passengers, capable of operating from short, unprepared runways — making it a standard type for regional aviation across the former Soviet space. Its manufacturer, Czech firm Aircraft Industries, was acquired by Omnipol from its Russian owners; L-410 aircraft have already been supplied to Kazakhstan, including L-410NG units delivered to the country's Emergency Situations Ministry for rapid-response operations.
Financing for the Aktobe project is being discussed with the Industrial Development Fund. Separately, the region has already launched a tender for the construction of Shalkar airport — another piece of its regional aviation infrastructure push.
