Kyrgyzstan and China agree to open a direct Bishkek–Sanya flight

A working meeting on opening direct air service between Bishkek and the Chinese resort city of Sanya was held in Haikou, on Hainan Island.

On the Kyrgyz side, talks were attended by Aman Mamaev, commercial director of Kyrgyz Airports JSC, with support from the Kyrgyz Republic's embassy in China and the Center for Supporting Regional Projects for SCO countries. The Chinese delegation was led by Feng Fei, secretary of the CPC committee for Hainan Province.

The main topic was launching direct air service on the Sanya–Bishkek–Sanya route, planned for the 2026/2027 winter season.

The meeting is a practical follow-up to agreements reached between Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the SCO summit in Bishkek, where the two sides agreed to deepen cooperation, including in transport and tourism.

Sanya, located on the southern coast of Hainan Island, is a resort city and one of China's largest tourist hubs. Since 20 August 2026, Kyrgyz citizens have been able to enter Hainan visa-free for up to 30 days — creating additional conditions for tourist traffic growth on the new route.
