Kyrgyzstan and the Czech Republic discuss direct Bishkek-Prague flight

Manasbek Samidinov, chairman of the board of OJSC Airports of Kyrgyzstan, met Czech Transport Minister Ivan Bednarik on 14 October 2026. The sides discussed opening direct air service between Bishkek and Prague, developing passenger and cargo transport, and expanding cooperation in civil aviation.

The next step will be a visit by a delegation of Airports of Kyrgyzstan to Prague international airport to continue negotiations on concrete agreements on the route. No date has been given for the visit. The Czech delegation, which was in the region on a business mission from 11 to 16 October, toured the renovated Manas international airport, its modernised infrastructure and technical capabilities.

In June 2026 the European Union removed Kyrgyz airlines from its list of carriers banned from operating in the EU, where they had been since 2006. The airline for the future route, the launch date and the frequency have not been named yet.

Our assessment: the meeting shows that Bishkek is looking for European destinations after the ban was lifted, but for now this is an intention, not a flight. For Prague airport and European airlines it is a signal of Kyrgyz interest in a new route. This is flycentralasia's conclusion, not a statement by the parties.
