Kyrgyzstan's First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Daniyar Amangeldiev met James Hogan, Chairman of Knighthood Global, in Bishkek on 28 October 2026. According to the Cabinet's press service, the sides discussed cooperation in civil aviation, development of international air links, airport modernisation and improving the competitiveness of Kyrgyzstan's airlines.
Who Hogan is
James Hogan previously headed Etihad Airways and Etihad Aviation Group. He now leads Knighthood Global, a company that provides aviation consulting services.
Outcome of the meeting
The sides expressed interest in further partnership. No signing of agreements or launch of specific projects has been reported.
What has not been announced
The client and mandate, any role for Knighthood Global, cost, timing, specific projects and financing have not been named. No confirmation from the company itself has been published. The meeting does not mean a consultant has been hired or a strategy commissioned.
Our assessment: the meeting took place a week after statements by the aviation agency's leadership on aircraft purchases and audits and fits a broader picture: Kyrgyzstan's authorities are seeking outside expertise on airports, carriers and international routes. But for now this is an exchange of views, and results can be discussed only after a specific programme is announced. This is flycentralasia's conclusion, not a statement by the government or Knighthood Global.
What businesses can do. Consultants and investors interested in Kyrgyzstan should watch whether a mandate appears and who the client will be. Airport operators should note that modernisation is on the government's agenda. Kyrgyzstan's airlines can prepare their own proposals on competitiveness and routes in advance.
