Kyrgyzstan names April 2027 for UK audit and 2028–2029 for a US audit after leaving the EU air safety list

Daniyar Bostonov, director of Kyrgyzstan's State Civil Aviation Agency, said on 27 October 2026 on the Birinchi Radio programme which external checks await the country's aviation system after it left the European Union's list.

United Kingdom: audit in April 2027

According to Bostonov, Kyrgyzstan remains on the UK aviation safety list because the UK inherited the EU list after leaving the bloc. The agency has received an official letter on preparation for the British audit. It has been set for April 2027, and preparation, the director said, is under way. The name of the British procedure is not given in the reports.

United States: preparation in 2028–2029

Preparation for a US audit is planned for 2028–2029. Direct flights to the United States are not currently planned, but the aim, Bostonov said, is to obtain all necessary approvals in advance. Key issues have already been discussed, and a preparation roadmap is being drawn up. The reports do not name which US agency will carry out the check.

Context: leaving the EU list

Kyrgyzstan left the EU aviation safety list in June 2026. Bostonov said work on direct flights to Europe continues: options are being discussed with Polish and German airlines, including from Warsaw and Frankfurt, and talks with Chinese carriers concern flights from Chinese cities to Bishkek, from where passengers could continue to Europe. Asman Airlines has contracted two Airbus A321 for flights to EU cities, with delivery expected by the end of 2027.

What has not been announced

The exact date of the British audit, its format, the list of requirements, the budget and the stages of the roadmap have not been named. There is no confirmation from the British side. For the US, the agency, format of the check and exact dates are not named, and 2028–2029 is a preparation guideline, not a flight date. Dates, conditions and carrier names for Warsaw and Frankfurt flights have not been announced. Access to the UK and US depends not only on a country-level audit but on assessment of individual airlines, and these stages need to be confirmed separately.

Our assessment: after leaving the EU list in June, Kyrgyzstan is lining up the next checks: the UK, then the US. For the market the key point is not the dates but the sequence: the country must first pass an audit, and only then can carriers count on access, while April 2027 remains the Kyrgyz side's guideline. For the London direction this means flights in 2027 are unlikely without confirmation of a British decision, and the US direction remains long-term preparation. This is flycentralasia's conclusion, not a statement by the State Civil Aviation Agency.

What businesses can do. Aviation safety and certification consultants can offer support in preparing for audits. Lessors and airlines considering Kyrgyzstan should take into account that UK access has not been granted. Tour operators should not plan sales of flights to London and the US before official confirmation.
