Russian carrier Nordwind Airlines will launch direct flights on the Kazan–Astana route starting October 27. Flights will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
This is not Nordwind's first move into Central Asia this past month: the airline has recently opened Kazan–Kulob (from September 27), Kazan–Namangan (from September 5), and entered the Samarkand–Kazan route as a second operator. Astana becomes another Kazakhstan point in Nordwind's growing network out of Tatarstan.
For the industry, this route is part of a broader pattern: Russian carriers continue expanding direct connectivity between Russian regions and Central Asian cities, bypassing traditional Moscow hubs. For tour operators and businesses in Tatarstan and Kazakhstan, this opens up more convenient logistics for business travel and tourism flows between the two countries.
