Uzbekistan Airports said that, besides the three destinations Pegasus Airlines announced on 28 October (Bukhara, Andijan and Termez), two more are under discussion: Karshi and Nukus. The airport operator wrote this on its Telegram channel and the media relayed it on 29–30 October. By the same reports, the parties confirmed the agreement on the first three destinations.
What is known about the three announced routes
Flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen on Airbus A320/A321 family aircraft: to Bukhara from 14 December 2026 (three times a week), to Andijan from 18 December (twice a week), to Termez from 1 March 2027 (three times a week). Tickets for these routes are already on sale on the carrier's website.
What has not been announced for Karshi and Nukus
Start dates, frequencies, aircraft type, handling terms and timelines for a decision have not been named. Pegasus does not mention these cities in its own announcement, and tickets are not on sale. It is not disclosed which issues remain under negotiation or whether the route is being discussed in parallel with other carriers.
What came before
In 2024 these cities already had flights to Istanbul: Karshi–Istanbul (Qanot Sharq, once a week from 13 June 2024, A321) and Nukus–Istanbul (Uzbekistan Airways Express, once a week from 17 June 2024, A320neo). Available publications do not say whether these flights operate now, so we do not call Pegasus's future flights "the first".
Airport data
For the first nine months of 2026, according to Uzbekistan Airports, passenger traffic at Karshi fell 22% while at Nukus it rose 17%.
Our assessment: the airport's statement speaks of talks, not a decision. Pegasus has so far announced only three of the five destinations, with Karshi and Nukus remaining on the list of possibles. The example shows the difference between airports: traffic is falling in Karshi and rising in Nukus, and conditions for a carrier differ. For the market something else matters more: Pegasus is testing how ready Uzbekistan's regions are for Istanbul flights, and the outcome will depend on how the first three perform. This is flycentralasia's conclusion, not a statement by Pegasus or Uzbekistan Airports.
What businesses can do. Tour operators and agencies in Karakalpakstan and Kashkadarya should prepare offers in case of a launch, but not sell flights until dates are announced. Karshi and Nukus airports would do well to gather demand data for Istanbul in advance. Carriers already on these routes should account for possible competition.
