Rahmon and Lee Jae-myung discuss direct air service between Tajikistan and South Korea

Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon and South Korea's President Lee Jae-myung discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries at talks in Seoul. Particular attention was given to tourism cooperation, including tourism infrastructure development and organizing direct air service between Tajikistan and South Korea.

The Tajik side also proposed increasing the number of state education quotas for its citizens.

The topic of direct air service with Korea is not new: earlier, per Khovar.tj (July 2026), Tajikistan was working to open flights to London, Seoul, and Beijing, as well as resume flights to Tbilisi and Antalya, as part of the national carrier's route network expansion.

Specific launch timing for a Dushanbe–Seoul flight, the operating carrier, and frequency have not been determined at time of publication — discussions remain at the intergovernmental level, not a signed agreement.
