Turkish Airlines and Shohin Airlines have signed a memorandum of understanding covering training for flight and ground staff of the Tajik carrier. This is stated in a press release published by Asia-Plus on 12 October 2026.
According to the press release, Shohin Airlines cabin crew and technical specialists are already being trained at the Turkish Airlines Aviation Academy. Turkish Technic is expected to provide technical support to the carrier, including aircraft painting and periodic maintenance. This part is worded in the future tense: the completion of any work is not stated.
Earlier, in August, it was reported that a first group of Shohin Airlines cabin crew had been sent for training, according to Khovar and the airline itself. What looks new in the October press release is the training of technical specialists and the proposed role of Turkish Technic.
The signing date and term of the memorandum, its full text, the number of trainees, and the length and cost of the programmes have not been disclosed. The types and number of aircraft to be painted and maintained, the scope of periodic maintenance, the location and timing of the work, and the commercial terms are also unknown. It is unclear whether a separate contract with Turkish Technic exists, and whether the memorandum is a new document or details previously announced cooperation.
Our assessment: for now this is a framework agreement on staff training with a stated plan for technical support, not an operating comprehensive MRO contract. For training providers and MRO companies, the signal is that Shohin Airlines is building its personnel and technical base through a Turkish partner, but the scope of work, fleet and obligations of the parties have not been disclosed. This is flycentralasia's conclusion, not a statement by Turkish Airlines or Shohin Airlines.
