On 29 August 2026, Somon Air operated its first direct flight between the capitals of Tajikistan and Belarus. The new route launched on the eve of Tajikistan's 35th State Independence anniversary, according to the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The agency noted that the new route will contribute to the development of economic, trade, tourism and cultural ties between the two countries, as well as ease travel for citizens. Flights on the new route will operate weekly.
In early August, Somon Air's fleet was expanded with a new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft. A second aircraft of this type is expected to arrive in September. The company also intends to use the new aircraft to launch new international routes, including Dushanbe–Seoul, Dushanbe–Beijing and Dushanbe–London. The Civil Aviation Agency said it will continue working to expand international air connectivity and develop Tajikistan's transit and transport potential.
The Dushanbe–Minsk route evolved from trial charter flights testing demand into scheduled service — a pattern typical of how Somon Air enters new markets. Over the past year the carrier has also resumed flights to Tbilisi, Jeddah and Ufa.
