Tajikistan's national news agency Khovar reported on 19 September 2026 that Somon Air plans to convert its Dushanbe-Doha flights to a scheduled basis. The announcement followed a meeting between the airline's leadership and Qatar's Ambassador to Tajikistan, with further talks planned with Qatar Airways on expanding aviation and tourism cooperation.
Until now, Somon Air has operated this route on a charter basis via Hamad International Airport in Doha. Converting to scheduled service would mean a fixed timetable and predictable frequency, rather than one-off or seasonal charters.
The move to scheduled service would give Tajikistan a stable direct link to Hamad International Airport — Qatar Airways' home hub, with a network of more than 170 destinations worldwide.
