Somon Air spreads its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 across eight network routes

After taking delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 on 3 August 2026, Tajikistan's Somon Air deployed the new aircraft progressively across several routes in its network throughout August, according to an updated schedule.

Per AeroRoutes, the aircraft is being phased into service on: Dushanbe–Almaty (effective 5 August, once weekly), Dushanbe–Delhi (effective 6 August, twice weekly), Dushanbe–Istanbul (effective 4 August, twice weekly), Dushanbe–Jeddah (effective 9 August, once weekly), Dushanbe–Khujand (effective 7 August, once weekly), Dushanbe–Tashkent (effective 5 August, three times weekly), Dushanbe–Tbilisi (effective 9 August, once weekly), and Dushanbe–Trabzon–Munich (effective 8 August, once weekly).

The Jeddah route itself is not new: Somon Air resumed it back in July 2025, and the current update reflects a switch of an already operating route onto the new aircraft type rather than a launch from scratch.

The airline expects to take delivery of a second Boeing 737 MAX 8 in September 2026. On the new aircraft, Somon Air also plans to launch routes to Dushanbe–Seoul, Dushanbe–Beijing and Dushanbe–London.
