Vietnamese carrier Sun PhuQuoc Airways (part of Sun Group) has officially named Kazakhstan among the countries it plans to add to its international network — alongside Malaysia, India, Japan, and Russia. The plans were reported by Vietnamese industry outlets Vietnam.vn and VietnamPlus.vn, citing the airline itself.
According to VietnamPlus, the airline is taking delivery of its first two new widebody Airbus A330 aircraft in September 2026 — specifically to boost capacity on flights to South Korea and to expand service to Russia and Kazakhstan. A further aircraft is expected in October, and another in December.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways is a young carrier that began operations in late 2025; it already flies international routes to Taipei, Seoul, Hong Kong, Chengdu, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok, positioning itself as a full-service "resort airline" with complimentary baggage, meals, in-flight entertainment, and a business class cabin.
According to Kazakh travel agencies, specific launch dates have already been set: from Almaty starting 25 October, and from Astana starting 26 December, exclusively through tour operator FUN&SUN. This information has not yet been confirmed by an independent press release from the airline or the tour operator.
Air Astana already operates regular service on the Kazakhstan–Phu Quoc route, alongside charter programs by Sunday and VietJet — the entry of another carrier would intensify competition on the route.
