Another foreign carrier may be preparing to enter the Kazakh market. Thai airline SiamWings Airlines posted a photo on its official Instagram captioned "Welcome, Almaty! Warm greetings from Kazakhstan!" — Tengri Travel reports.
The company has disclosed no further details: it is not yet known which city SiamWings Airlines would fly from to Almaty, when the program might start, or how many flights are planned.
SiamWings Airlines is a Thai carrier flying to Bangkok, Phuket, and other Thai cities, positioning itself around safety, reliability, service, and punctuality.
The news follows an announcement from another Asian carrier eyeing Kazakhstan — Vietnam's Sun PhuQuoc Airways, which unveiled its first extended-range Airbus A321neo LR, saying the aircraft is intended in part to open routes to Japan, Kazakhstan, and Central Asia; no specific route or dates have been named there either.
Foreign carriers' interest in Kazakhstan is linked to the "open skies" regime in effect at 17 of the country's international airports, which removes restrictions on flight numbers. Four foreign carriers have already entered the Kazakh market in 2026: Qanot Sharq (Uzbekistan), Shirak Avia and FlyOne Armenia (Armenia), UVT Aero (Russia), and SunExpress (Turkey).
