Turkish carrier SunExpress will increase frequency on its Almaty–Izmir route from two to three weekly flights starting October 25, 2026. The route launched on July 31, 2026, operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft; the inaugural flight carried 177 passengers.
The frequency increase comes less than three months after launch, pointing to demand exceeding the carrier's initial projections.
In parallel, SunExpress is preparing to launch a second Kazakh route — Astana–Izmir — at twice-weekly frequency (Wednesdays and Saturdays), also operated with B-737 aircraft. The new route was discussed by the parties on September 15, 2026.
With this move, SunExpress is building a two-point presence in Kazakhstan — Almaty and Astana — deepening air connectivity between Turkey and Kazakhstan.
