Uzbekistan Airways is increasing the frequency of its flights between Tashkent and Islamabad to three a week. The new schedule takes effect with the autumn–winter navigation period, with the first flight on 28 October.
Schedule
Flights Tashkent–Islamabad–Tashkent operate under numbers HY465 and HY466 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The airline has planned its entire schedule to the end of the autumn–winter navigation period on these days.
Earlier reports said the number of flights would rise from two to three a week. The airline's clarification: flights operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, not on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as first publications stated, and begin on 28 October.
What it means for the market
Islamabad remains one of Uzbekistan Airways' destinations in South Asia, and a third frequency gives passengers and agencies a choice of days across the week. Three flights, including a weekend day, suit multi-day trips and business trips that return within the same week.
Our assessment: a higher frequency on one route does not by itself signal growing demand, but the fact that the airline plans three flights for the whole winter season, not a few weeks, points to a long-term calculation. This is flycentralasia's conclusion, not a statement by Uzbekistan Airways.
What businesses can do. Tour operators and agencies working the Pakistan–Uzbekistan market can update their offers to the new flight days. Corporate clients can revise travel schedules between Tashkent and Islamabad. Travel companies can offer weekend packages departing on Friday and returning on Sunday.
