Uzbekistan and Romania Sign Aviation Safety Cooperation Memorandum

Uzbekistan's civil aviation authority and Romania's Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) have signed a memorandum of understanding on aviation safety, RCAA General Director Nicolae Stoica announced.

The agreement establishes a framework for exchanging safety-oversight expertise between the two regulators. Other authorities working with Central Asia's growing aviation markets have followed a similar pattern — the UK Civil Aviation Authority previously signed a comparable safety memorandum with Kazakhstan.

The agreement fits a broader trend: Uzbekistan's aviation authorities continue building a network of bilateral safety agreements, alongside Kazakhstan's recent completion of the US FAA's IASA safety assessment. Such memoranda typically precede the expansion of direct air services and ease market entry for airlines planning new routes.
